Walmart has made a commitment to making healthcare and healthier food more affordable and accessible. And customers will see Walmart’s commitment come to life on Saturday, Oct. 10, when the retailer holds “America’s Biggest Health Fair.” The event will take place in more than 4,400 stores across the U.S. from noon to 4 p.m.(Including at both D.C. locations, 5929 Georgia Ave. NW and 99 H Street NW.
Free blood glucose, blood pressure, vision screenings, product samples and health insurance information will be available.
KNOW YOUR HEALTHY NUMBERS
Start with the basics: know your blood pressure, BMI and blood glucose numbers, and how they compare with the normal range.
- Blood Pressure: Normal blood pressure is systolic pressure less than 120 and diastolic pressure less than 80 mmHg.
- Blood Glucose: Glucose levels will vary throughout the day. A normal glucose level is less than 100 mg/dL.
- BMI: Body mass index is a height-weight calculation. The normal-healthy weight BMI range for adults is 18.5 – 24.9.
